The Ladybug’s “Nice” weekend!

The Ladybug Chronicles Nice (4)

A couple of weeks ago I had the chance to spend a beautiful weekend in Provence, France. More precisely in Juan-les-Pins and Nice. It was totally unplanned and unexpected and maybe this is the reason why I enjoyed it so much. The weather was incredibly warm and I felt really envious of people living there because they can see the sea every day and in the middle of November they could eat outside in the sun without wearing tights or coats. I felt a bit out of place with my black tights and my heavy coat.

It was a total-relax weekend: little lunches and dinners outside, meeting old friends, walking around and shopping a little bit. Speaking of which, if it happens that you are in Nice don’t miss the lovely Caprice Vintage Shop, not far from the beautiful and crowded Place Masséna: it is one of the best vintage shops in town and the vintage selection is amazing! It is defnitely worth a visit!

Let me just share here some of my pictures from my day in Nice, on the famous Promenade des Anglais: I am wearing Zara 60’s inspired black dress, vintage laced ankle boots from Foxhole Vintage in Brussels, Miu Miu bag and handmade headband by Heka Couture.

One of the things that I’ve learned in my life is that most of the times, when some events don’t go the way they were planned, it’s just because there’s a better way for things to go!

This is exactly what happened last Sunday during a trip to the beach with my friends: we were heading to the sunny seaside of Liguria when the sky turned grey and it started raining. We were all disappointed and gutted so we decided to try to find somewhere else to go.

We decided cross the border and head to France; more precisely, in the lovely Menton on the Côte d’Azur. It’s the first village into France from that point in Italy. This post wasn’t planned indeed, it came to be from a bad day turned great!

Let me say that every time my feet touch French soil I feel something: maybe because of the years that I spent there or because of my love for the country, but I was really happy to be in France even if just for a day.

We arrived quite early and we had time to take a walk in the old city center, a very nice Cathedral and very peculiar “ruelles” (French word to indicate small streets). We managed to visit some shops, eat a wholegrain “French baguette” and even visit the old market were we stopped for a cold beer.

We also visited the Jean Cocteau museum, a very modern space dedicated to the famous French poet, novelist, filmmaker and playwright who was in love with Menton. The museum was very interesting with a lot of pictures (I loved the pictures with Edith Piaf), movies and original paintings and drawing of Mr. Cocteau.

While we were there the sun decided to reward us with a lovely afternoon that we spent entirely at the beach (macarons included!). After a delicious Moroccan dinner and a drink at the Vintage Bar (how could I pass by?); we headed back home, tired but happy about the day.

As you can imagine I wasn’t prepared for an outfit post, but I decided to share my beach outfit anyway: I am wearing one of my favorite vintage skirts, a green one with snails from my beloved “Everybody’s Buying Vintage.” I paired it with a simple navy t-shirt, a pair of purple panama flip-flops and this colored bag that I got at Ikea for 5 euros, which turned out to be a perfect beach bag!

As for my bikini set… I can only tell you that it was white crochet, ’80s style and from Topshop!
