The Ladybug’s new shoe crush: preview of Luisa Tratzi AI18/19 collection

The Ladybug Chronicles Luisa Tratzi AW18-19 (7)

When Luisa Tratzi comes to town, at least twice a year during the Milan Fashion week crowd, I know that I will fall in love again. I must confess that I can’t resist the beauty of her shoes! They are not just beautiful, they have strong personality, they are charming and shoe lovers know what I mean. They are not just shoes!

Last February Luisa Tratzi opened her temporary shop during the Milan Fashion Week event in the Brera area to present the AW18/19 collection: it didn’t take long, I just spent maybe 20 minutes in her space and hop! Fallen for a new pair! It happens all the times but I have to confess that lately she is going too far!

70s suede and shapes just got me addicted: rust, yellow, teal, powder blue, soft grey…I couldn’t resist my favorite winter colors! Funny thing is that this time my favorite piece of the collection was also hers, then we decided to both wear it in two different shades: she went for bold golden leather and I chose a light blue suede. The piece itself was amazing: stiletto heels, pointed toe, a beautiful twist of small straps with buckles, soft and brave at the same time! Awesome!

This AW18/19 collection was full of incredibly well managed contrasts: patent and suede for example, cut-outs and mid-heels, transparent and color-block. Mid heels are also a new trend, near the iconic (and super comfortable) stilettos .

I tried to take some pictures for you to have a sneak peek of this new amazing collection presented in Milan. Feel free to visit www.luistratzi.it to find out more about the brand and to add your favorite shoes to your shopping basket!

The Ladybug and her worst kept secret

The Ladybug Chronicles Luisa Tratzi SS18 (7)

My passion for shoes is probably not my worst kept secret, as it is not a secret at all: while writing this post I am constantly distracted by my new pair of boots from Jil Sander bought earlier today at a private pop-up sale and I am still questioning my flash of joy when I was told at the check-out that the shoes had a further 40% off!

Because ladies, let’s be honest: shoes can give us joy! It is in our nature, we cannot do anything against that, so we better accept it and enjoy that moment of pleasure!

Speaking of moment of pleasure offered by our fellow shoes, let me introduce you to a moment of pure joy of all the senses when I visited Luisa Tratzi temporary shop in Milan during the last Milan Fashion Week, to present SS18 collection. Every time that I head in into their pop-up store, the magic overwhelms me: this time it was the outburst of colors, those summer colors that I love so much: from turquoise to yellow, from tangerine to deep rose, all these colored sandals made me feel blossoming!

The new sculpted heels, the little buckles, the flat shoes, I realized that if I could choose only one pair of them it would be too hard for me! But in the end also this time I found my perfect match: a pair of turquoise sandals with sculpted heel and little buckles that really made me crack since I put my eyes on them! As usual it was hard to leave them there but while leaving I promised myself that one day I will own a pair (I don’t even want to think of which one as I have a favorite pair for every season!).

Luisa is such a talented designer and I am not surprised that she was considered by the American Footwear News one of the 32 worldwide emerging talents. I am so proud of her and I still remember that I was on the front row of her very first Milan fashion show a few years ago and that I loved her (and her shoes!) at first sight!

(I was wearing a vintage skirt from Sine Modus, Mango sweater, Zara earrings and of course, Luisa Tratzi SS18 sandals).

The Ladybug wakes up after a sweet dream of shoes, Luisa Tratzi shoes!

The Ladybug Chronicles Luisa Tratzi AW17 (8)

I’ve been a bit quiet lately: too much work, too many things to do and as usual when spring is coming I feel incredibly tired and I need to sleep a lot! For this reason I guess you won’t be surprised if I come back with a post talking about my favorite spot during the…Milan Fashion Week! I know it was a month ago but I needed time to tell you everything about the amazing Luisa Tratzi AW2017 shoe collection!

I needed time because it totally surprised me as it was a huge change. I’ve been following Luisa since her beginnings and every collection was a little surprise for me because she managed to give me always a new different idea of what beauty is when it comes to shoes. But this time I saw a more mature Luisa, daring with her creativity and making the most of every detail.

First of all, shapes: I was amazed to see a lot of ankle boots in her new collection; it is my favorite piece and hers are just incredible; cut-outs, Plexiglas details, new shapes and length of the heels, bows, buckles…the collection is so creative and strong, so much more feminine if I can say so!

Second thing, materials: soft leather is a label mark as well as shiny patent but the new pieces in soft suede added something more to the collection! My favorite piece was indeed the navy suede ankle boot that I held in my hand…it was just perfection!

Last but not least, colors: AW collections are sometimes more boring than SS because it usually turns around a few main colors (basically black and brown) but Luisa dared color-blocking (orange and purple) and pale pink also in winter plus all shades of blue, red and burgundy.

I really adored this collection, it was so powerful that her temporary shop in via Solferino during the Milan Fashion Week was absolutely glowing!

The Ladybug and the celebration of nature in a pair of shoes (aka Luisa Tratzi SS2017 preview)

There are things that I don’t like to miss: the new movie from my favorite director, the new album from my favorite singer, the new book from my favorite writer, the new shoe collection from Luisa Tratzi!

This season again, during the Milan Fashion Week, Luisa Tratzi was in town with her temporary shop in via Solferino and with a preview of her new Spring-Summer 2017 collection.

I’ve been quite bored about shoes in general lately: I browse shoe shops in town and online but it seems like nothing excites me anymore. I always look for something funny, girlish, sexy yet comfortable but nothing has really inspired me lately.

When I was going to meet Luisa to see her new collection I was wondering with what she would surprise me this time because she knows how to revamp my love for shoes, but this time she really went beyond any expectation!

Luisa Tratzi SS 2017 collection was a celebration of the earth, an invitation to travel and to enjoy our mother nature:  camel shoes with patterns that make you dream of the African desert downs; turquoise and deep blue sandals with textured waves that bring your mind to the beautiful Caribbean sea; golden shoes with the brightness of the sun in a summer day; peach, yellow and pink sandals with the taste of a fruit basket and the smell of blossomed flowers!  Feminine shapes and stiletto heels with a new entry: lace-less soft sneakers in the tones of pastel pink and pale blue!

The creativity of Luisa is endless and it always goes with her incredible attention to detail, the quality coming from the handmade production and – as usual – the choice of the best materials (especially soft leather, patent and suede).

I couldn’t resist trying some of my favorite pieces, starting from the camel and golden pointy shoes (they reminded me of the Sahara sandy hills) and the yellow sandal-boots (definitely my favorite color and a new shade for Luisa!).

What was a preview of a new collection quickly turned into a shoe party: what else when two women in love with shoes come together in a cloudy afternoon in the center of Milan?!

The Ladybug and the fitting slipper: I found my perfect shoes at Luisa Tratzi AW2016 presentation

The Ladybug Chronicles Luisa Tratzi shoes (7)

I came back to Milan just in time for the presentation of Luisa Tratzi AW2016 collection during the Fashion Week. This happened in a new location in the lovely area of Brera, near via Solferino and via Castelfidardo, a lovely corner of Milan that I was seeing for the first time (and that I used for a quick photoshoot!) in a beautiful sunny day; in this warm and welcoming space that I would define like in the middle between a shop and a showroom, Luisa’s shoes from new collection AW2016 and current SS2016 were everywhere, leaning on mirrors, with their incredible colors and shapes.

A tribute to the power of the perfect heels on a perfect day!

When I received Luisa Tratzi’s invitation I immediately asked myself: what did she invent this time? I am a huge fan of her talent and creativity!

Well, here is the answer…and the truth is that she manages to surprise me all the time!

This time she invented the sexiest cut-outs ever for sandals and ankle boots, the most feminine heels ever, the softest suede, the warmest and brightest colors; the perfect powder pink ankle boots; the amazing drops’ effect on black leather, the best Italian quality and, as if this was not enough, she killed me with the best shoes ever: a pair of Magenta heeled cut-out pointy shoes (also available in black patent…pure ecstasy!).

How do you know that a pair of shoes is your feet soul mate? Easy: my head and my feet never left them and kept thinking of them all the time even after more than 10 days; I received messages from readers asking about those amazing pair of shoes when I posted them on social medias; all my female friends-colleagues asked about them; even male friends and colleagues (usually not very interested in these topics) admitted that those shoes, hey!, they were freaking sexy; they were incredibly sexy and absolutely comfortable at the same time…what else do we need to know that this is real shoe-love?!!

My lovely Cinderellas, you can find a selection of my favorite pieces here and if you are too tempted you can still visit www.luisatratzi.it of find Luisa Tratzi con Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!

I wore Zara silver sweater, Imperial blue trousers and, of course, Luisa Tratzi shoes.

The Ladybug Visits Her Sole Sister: Luisa Tratzi FW2015

The Ladybug Chronicles - Luisa Tratzi FW 11

My busy Saturday during Milan Fashion week continued with a visit to the beautiful Galleria Silvano Lodi in the middle of the Quadrilatero della Moda to visit the temporary show room of Luisa Tratzi. A real corner of peace in a crowded area where I had the time to admire wonderful art creations (because I can’t just call them shoes!) and catch up with Luisa to chat about her FW2015 collection, Miss Garçon.

Why Miss Garçon? First; because she introduces new flat shoes, especially brogues, with a touch of masculinity that maintain very feminine details. Secondly, because of the details that recall mens’ shirts found in many of the new pieces (from super sexy high boots to very feminine killer heels décolleté). Last but not least, the use of new materials with a wink to those jacquards used for men ties and ascots.

Leather (especially suede) and patent are still the most used materials. Those along with the famous de-structured heels, which I loved so during her last show in September, continue to be the center of Luisa Tratzi’s new collection.

Speaking of which, I had the chance to try both the wedge heels and the “crooked” heels and I can tell you that they are incredibly comfortable to wear!

Luisa Tratzi’s shoes are not just shoes but elegant and sensual pieces of art, especially because of the attention and study of the details. For their complex forms and volumes, I would call them sculptures. The new colors and patterns, introduced in this collection, are to die-for: from magenta to purple, from olive green to navy blue and every possible declination of patterns on the soft leathers and new ecological furs… houndstooth mixed with patent and metallic heels.

Yet again I see in her work a beautiful way of mixing modern (sculpted and geometric forms) with vintage (use of coil heels, multiple straps and classic patterns of past eras).

I introduced Luisa Tratzi last year as one of the most talented Italian emerging shoe designers, but let me tell you that, for me, she is a star in the Italian firmament of shoe designers. The great Italian quality and her strong attention to details, mixed with her incredible creativity- make her more than an emerging talent, but a new amazing reality to keep an eye on!

I tried to take as many photos as I could of my favorite pieces to share with you. Just a little something to hold you over until the new collection goes on sale.  For more, you can visit Luisa Tratzi’s site www.luisatratzi.it.

PS: This is me with my new friend Giotto, who enjoyed the shoes (and the soft red carpet) as much as I did!

The Ladybug’s Milan Fashion Week, pt 1: Luisa Tratzi Fashion Show

The Ladybug Chronicles - Luisa Tratzi 12

This is something that I will probably never forget… the first show of my first Fashion Week. Those who follow my blog may already know that I’m not a big fan of the glittering luxurious world of the World’s Fashion Weeks, but hey, let’s be honest, this is every girl’s dream and I must confess that it was mine too! I am not ashamed to tell you that it was the first time I’d received some invitations to attend fashion shows in Milan during the Milan Fashion Week… I am just sorry that, because of work, I couldn’t attend all of them; still I’m very happy to have a special memory of my first catwalk because I really loved it.

Another reason why I loved my first show was because of the show itself: Luisa Tratzi’s “Blossom Street” SS15 shoe show. If you don’t know about the brand, let me tell you that she’s considered to be the new emerging brand of Italian handmade luxury shoe designers. Last year she was selected by the Camera della Moda as one of the most talented emerging Italian brands and it was her first appearance of Milan’s Fashion Week. The event was not just about fashion: it mixed fashion with food with a special post catwalk brunch prepared by the famous chef Marco Rossi and beverages chosen by Elisa Campa, the sommelier from La Mugnaia in Ivrea.  Also, the location deserves a special mention: it happened at the Palazzo Grifoni, the Milanese store of Mauro Grifoni, an elegant historical venue were the designer’s pieces were sold with the artsy shoes pieces of Luisa Tratzi.

But let’s talk about the shoes and the Blossom Street Collection: the blossoming flowers of the collection are the wonderful handmade pieces of art of Luisa Tratzi, not just shoes but elegant and sensual pieces that reminded me of beautiful flowers because of their intricate details. I would call them sculptures, created by soft leather and other refined materials which were not just worn but beautiful models dressed in white and flowers collars, but brought to the public on mirror plates to create a game of lights- giving proper importance to the art of the shoes. The color tones went from lilac to light blue and every possible declination of pastels mixed with metallic details.

And, let me say, a beautiful way of mixing modernity (with sculpted and geometric forms) with vintage was the attention to the details that called on the eloquence of the past (the use of coil heels or of multiple straps).

Obviously, you can find some of my shots and favorite pieces in this blog post. But you can visit Luisa Tratzi’s site www.luisatratzi.it for more photos and information.

I attended the show wearing an “almost vintage” Max & Co ethnic skirt and Zara white shirt. I paired them with Ash peep-toe ankle boots, Miu Miu clutch and a vintage pair of cat-eye frames from Punti di Vista.
