The Ladybug and another vintage Armani blazer!

The Ladybug Chronicles Armani Jacket (2)

Not too long ago I was telling you about a great charity market where I was invited last year in December and where I found some great bargains. In particular, I was showing you my tartan Valentino skirt that I got for only 20 euros and that I totally love.

I also promised to show you more of my little bargains from that charity event, so here is another one: a vintage wool Armani jacket with a lovely shape that makes it perfect not only for work (as I am wearing it here) but also with denim and more casual outfits, depending on how you pair it and accessorize it!

This is my second vintage Armani blazer (the first one was from Opherty & Ciocci) and I find his vintage jackets amazing: the shape is so flattering and they look elegant without getting the “granny” feeling. When I saw this jacket hanging I started thinking about how to wear it, because it looked too old style for me but in the end, when I tried it, I realized that it was not the case at all!

In this case, as I was wearing at work (another example of how to wear vintage at the office!) I added a red vintage shirt with peter pan collar that I bought at Humana Vintage and a vintage dragonfly brooch that I found on Ebay for a ridiculous price!

All the rest of the outfit is new, like my black culottes from Cos and my red ankle boots from Dixie. Golden earring are from Genny Pi in Milan.

The Ladybug on Depop and vintage finds

The Ladybug Chronicles Vintage Afropicks (1)

It has been about a year now since I started using new platforms to sell my vintage and second hand finds other than Ebay. I have been an Ebay seller for many years but I needed something different, with different rules and lower fees. I was studying Depop and Vintag and I realized that they were interesting options with better prices and less stress than Ebay.

I started my Vintag shop only for vintage pieces and my Depop account to sell almost everything, from vintage to second hand. On both platforms I buy and sell and I have a few favorite sellers. One of them on Depop is Tiziana from Vintage Afropicks that I also met a couple of times in Milan at the East Market. She has very interesting vintage pieces because they are often rare and honestly priced. The only problem is that many of them are sold super quickly (or are too small for me!).

This time I was lucky enough to find this vintage dark red cape and to buy it before anyone else did! This loden cape is super warm and I found out that it is also perfect when you wear large blazers or sweaters!

Today I wore it with Zara prince of  Wales culottes and black turtleneck sweater and paired it with black laced ankle boots from Ouigal and handmade Coco headwrap from Madame Ilary.

I added to this cape a vintage Nina Simone brooch (that’s how they called it!) that I bought at the Lipscani Antiques fair in Bucharest a few months ago. Brass earrings are handmade from Metalica Creazioni.

If you are curious about my Ebay, Depop and Vintag online shops just look for theladybugchronicles as a user on each of them!

The Ladybug’s 70’s Afro outfit (L’Afrique, c’est chic!)

The Ladybug Chronicles African 70's (4)

When I think of the 70’s that I love I cannot think only of the “Flower Power” and “Peace and Love” trends around Europe and America.  I still love the flowers in the hair, the flare jeans, the wooden platforms but I cannot separate it from the “Black Power”, the early disco and all the fashion related to that era among black people especially in the United States. Afro hair, African headscarves, African bangles and large earrings.

Diana Ross is my fashion icon of the 70’s and when I try to re-create an outfit inspired to that decade I can’t help mixing flare pants with afro hair or just add something African to the outfit.

I must confess that I do that quite often: my love for African prints and fashion in general is huge since I was a kid and I used to go with my grandmother to the fairs and markets only to buy African scarves to put on my head; I used the same scarves when I was a bit older to create my Erykah Badu inspired turbans!

I often wear African pieces to my daily outfits and lately I also decided to leave my curly natural hair free in an afro styled cut.

When I bought my H&M printed navy jumpsuit (on sale for 7 euros last winter!) I immediately imagined to wear it in a 70’s inspired outfit. I didn’t have my wooden platforms with me so I wore it with my navy Swedish Hasbeens sandals but I added two afro touches: the beautiful handmade African turban by Sine Modus and the adorable original vintage brooch from Déjà Vu Vintagepedia.
