The Ladybug Pollinates Marni’s Flower Market

The Ladybug Chronicles - Marni Flower Market 10

My last event of Milan Fashion Week in September was also my favorite one!

On September 21st Marni started the celebrations of its 20th anniversary with the opening of the Marni Flower Market at the Rotonda della Besana. Perfect location for a lovely, adorable event!

It was a real Flower Market with beautiful flowers wrapped in Marni prints papers, seeds sold in beautiful printed packages (the same seeds were given as a press invitation to the event!), flower bags and gardening tools- all especially designed for the event by Marni.

During the entire afternoon, the public could shop and take flowers and the unique memories from this one-off event home. There were many workshops for children held in the park outside the Besana where you could find beautiful flower compositions with handmade creations representing birds were exposed throughout.

But Marni Flower Market it’s not just a happy and colored event: it comes from an active collaboration of the brand with the MUBA – Museo dei Bambini Milan, whose headquarters are located inside the Rotonda della Besana. Moreover, this project comes from an important charity initiative held by Marni.

A part of the proceeds from the sales of all the limited edition products are indeed donated to the Vimala Association which guarantees seriously disabled Tibetan children living in India for medical care and physiotherapy, as well as food and the maintenance of their school-house.

A beautiful event in a wonderful location for an important cause: could Marni do better than that? Nah…

For the occasion I wore a pineapple printed shirt from Lazzari, Zara skort, ’80s vintage envelope Yellow clutch and Miu Miu Golden gladiator sandals from many seasons ago!

The Ladybug is Gatsby in the Rain: The Ever Illusive Spring of 2013

TLC_7306

Maybe it was the rain or the influence that The Great Gatsby had on me, but today, as Spring seems late to blossom, I decided to go to a ’30s/’40s inspired outfit mixing new and vintage pieces.

I started with this lovely blue cape coat from Max&Co that I bought on sale this winter, but it’s perfect for this middle season weather. I paired it with a silk dress from Topshop that I bought in their London boutique on Oxford Street some years ago.

The retro inspired hat is a lovely handmade creation from Pippi the Milliner and it adds the real “Gatsbian” style to the outfit! I am also wearing grey suede Dolce & Gabbana pumps and an original ’40s clutch of the same color.

The Ladybug goes green for the last days of winter!

Green 1

It’s April and, even if a little late, spring has come to Milan too!

So…here is my last outfit post for this winter! I planned this post some time ago, because I bought on sale this beautiful Max & Co emerald green coat with Mongolian fur and I realized how difficult it was to create outfits with it.

I decided then to play a bit with it, dressed up and dressed down, and I understood that there are not impossible things to wear as long as you feel comfortable in them! My feeling is that the coat and I just needed some time to feel confident with each other!

I am sharing here two different outfits with the same coat: in the first one I decided to play it ladylike by matching it with a black Zara dress and Topshop sandals. I added a vintage touch with my patent clutch from Dappa Boutique, one of my favorite vintage shops in London.

In the second one I tried the green coat with denim for a dressed down look: I am wearing Met dark jeans, Benetton brown riding boots, H&M fedora hat and again a vintage bag from the 70’s that I purchased from Cavalli & Nastri here in Milan.

The Ladybug Recalls the Scent of a Southern Italian Spring

I completely forgot to post this lovely photos from last spring… I know that we probably won’t see this warm sunny light for some months, but it’s nice to see it… here, isn’t it?

These were taken in Southern Italy on the Sorrento coast, where I lived, a few weeks before moving to Milan.

I’m wearing an adorable vintage secretary dress from L Train Vintage in New York, a pair of lace-up peep toe ankle boots from Marc Ellis NYC – now on sale on my Ebay shop – and a vintage red clutch that I bought many years ago in London.

The Ladybug’s Winter 2011/12 Smart Shopping Find #2: The Stefanel Camel Coat

Do you remember my post about The Perfect Coat? I was still looking for a prefect coat!
A few weeks after I found this beautiful coat at Stefanel, but it was a bit too expensive for me at the time- so I decided to wait for the winter sales….
I found it at 30% off and I was so pleased about my new coat… perfect color, very soft and warm, round collar, lovely shape!

I love the camel and black pairing, that’s why I’m wearing it here with a Zara black leggings, a H&M black turtle neck sweater and Topshop black ankle boots.

I added my adored vintage fur hat and a vintage animal envelope clutch from Lady Jane Vintage!
